About

The Beginnings...

Steve Ronald McFarlane founded SRM in the early 1980s to provide engineering services for the BSA A7/A10 owners. A classic bike enthusiast, Steve had encountered problems with the crankshaft bush on his A10 and decided to engineer a solution. In a single room building on Penarth Dock, the Company has grown from humble beginnings.

Buying Devimead...

SRM purchased Devimead in 1987, and the range expanded to the BSA A50 / A65. More on Devimead here.

The 'Big' move...

Steve retired in 1992, accompanied by a move to a new industrial unit just outside Aberystwyth. The extra space allowed the Company to expand into all aspects of Classic bike restoration and all the associated services.

It's now BSA, TRIUMPH and NORTON...

By now, satisfied BSA customers were asking about work on Triumph and Norton, so we applied the same high standards onto the Triumph, and Norton rebuilds. Later, we added three-cylinder rebuilds to the BSA & Triumph services on offer.

The future in R&D / CAD / CNC...

We consider ourselves to be an ongoing R&D department, not just to keep the bikes running beautifully but constantly innovating to realize the full potential of the bikes as if they were developed in the original factory.

With Our in-house development team, CAD design and CNC machines, we can design, fabricate and prototype all under one roof. We aim to supply products and design innovations that take the anxiety out of classic bike ownership.
