WHEEL BUILDING & SPOKES
We have a range a stainless steel spokes in single diameter and Butted (two diameter) in blank form that we can bend , cut and thread to suit any wheel build application. Great care and attention is taken to replicating the original spoke pattern and getting the spoke length correct. Our database of wheel sizes and offsets allows us to double check that the wheel is rebuilt and trued with the correct offset.
HUBS
Whilst the wheel is apart we can restore the hub by painting, polishing or bead blasting. We are able to colour match the hubs and paint the centres and paint on the pinstripes to the central section of the wheel rim, again colour matched. We can also offer all these finishes for the brake plates and can supply and fit new bearings and spindles etc.
TYRES
We ride Classic bikes, we restore Classic bikes so we can advise and supply the various options of tyres to suit the look and performance you require. We can fit the tyres and dynamically balance the wheel to reduce vibrations.
BRAKES
To restore the braking we would reline the brake shoes with modern material to an oversize thickness, then skim the wheel hub with the wheel complete to ensure it is round. We would measure the diameter and then with the shoes mounted to the brake plate we would use the lathe to machine the shoes to the correct diameter to suit the hub. This will maximise the contact area of the shoes onto brake surface of the hub to achieve the best retarding force.
